Counseling & Treatment Philosophy
I value connection and feel that the therapeutic relationship between client
and therapist is the most important aspect of therapy. I provide a safe space to
process and navigate the demands of life. My practice is very relationally focused.
I enjoy working with couples, individuals, and occasionally adolescents. I
have experience with marital stress/conflict, premarital sessions, sex, sexuality,
self-worth, adolescents & parenting adolescents, foster care & adoption, being
childfree by choice, ambiguous loss, aging, caregiver burnout, life transitions, end
of life, grief, and trauma. I have been trained in Prepare/Enrich, PREP Inc, EMDR,
Making Sense of Your Worth, Internal Family Systems, and Trust-Based Relational
Intervention. As a foster/adoptive parent myself, I have several years of direct
experience in trauma-informed care. My clients appreciate my laid-back approach
and the neutrality I hold with couples. Something that I frequently say is,
"It's hard to be a person." As short and simple as this saying is, I think it
normalizes the human experience and how it comes with so many challenges. Let's
find a way to make your experiences and your relationships easier.
